NamadaFlow Weekly Update
Dec 31, 2025 - Jan 7, 2026
Namada’s situation escalated from uncertainty to confrontation. With Anoma leadership finally entering the chat, integrations unraveling, and the community rallying behind a clean XAN-backed exit as the least-worst option, the conversation made one thing painfully clear: limbo is no longer acceptable for builders, validators, or token holders.
Christopher Goes (cwgoes) Weighs In Personally
The community strongly advocated for Anoma Foundation leadership to participate in discussions. Christopher Goes, one of three cofounders, engaged in the general chat, though not in an official AF capacity, and was expected to join the January 7 Validator Circle. His participation represented the first direct engagement from AF leadership on the crisis, though the other two founders (Adrian and Awa) remained notably absent.
Concerning Cosmos Ecosystem News and Integration Risks
Gavin revealed troubling developments beyond the funding crisis: Noble (Namada’s gateway to USDC and Circle’s CCTP) is pivoting to an EVM chain, Circle is deprecating CCTP v1 in June, and Polaris is expected to deliver “bad news” about not continuing to use Namada. These technical and partnership challenges compound the organizational difficulties.
Community Demands for Clarity and Proper Handover
Token holders and validators expressed frustration about the uncertainty and demanded that if AF doesn’t want to support Namada, they should properly hand over all IP, tokens, and potentially XAN tokens as goodwill rather than letting the project slowly wither. The community emphasized that AF’s XAN holders benefited from NAM airdrops and have responsibilities to NAM stakeholders.
Support for XAN Buyout Proposal as Best Path Forward
Community members, particularly pretoro, strongly endorsed Gavin’s proposal for AF to provide 1% XAN supply to enable NAM holder exits, calling it “brilliant” and the best solution that would satisfy all criteria. This represents growing community consensus around this specific mechanism as preferable to a complete relaunch.
“Caught and Killed” Product with Privacy Narrative Conflict
The community perception solidified that Namada represents an attractive product offering that has been effectively “caught and killed” rather than given proper conditions to grow. Multiple participants noted that AF appears to be capitalizing on the privacy narrative at Namada’s expense, with Anoma positioning itself to capture privacy use cases that were originally Namada’s domain.
Knowable’s Position and Gavin’s Personal Investment
Gavin revealed that Knowable spent 3 years paying salaries focused on Namada work, holds 2% of token supply which they will likely burn and mark as zero, and that he personally traveled to Switzerland spending over a week in-person trying to negotiate a solution. This underscored the depth of commitment and the painful nature of potentially abandoning NAM.
Maintenance Mode Expectations and “Keeping Lights On”
Discussion clarified that even if Knowable leaves, AF is expected to keep the infrastructure running, maintain the website/forum, and respond to critical bugs—essentially “keeping the lights on” in maintenance mode. However, this would mean no significant growth or development, which community members found unacceptable compared to a proper handover or clear end.
Technical Operations: MASP Indexer Challenges
Shield Crypto reported difficulties with MASP indexer synchronization and the challenge of detecting when the indexer is out of sync—a problem that affects both operators and end users. After restoring from backup, they changed their snapshot format from custom to standard SQL for improved performance and made it available to the community.
